Victoria Simms
God has been my rock ever since I was nine years old. From a young age I could see the Lord setting me apart to do greater things to build His Kingdom. When I was twelve years old contemplating my future the Lord spoke to me and said “Nurse Practitioner.” Fast forward I am 21 years old attending Houston Baptist University and I will be graduating in Fall 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. I imagine myself working as a Pediatric Registered Nurse and within the next 10 years starting a Mobilized Medical Mission Team as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I envision leading volunteer teams all over the world to provide holistic care to the vulnerable population of orphans, and introducing them to the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Through the power of God these sweet children will come to know God as their Heavenly Father, Jesus as their Healer and Savior, and they will come to know the peace of the Holy Spirit that will reign in them wherever they may go. I believe we will raise up the next generation of believers who will know God and generously pour themselves out to be the salt and light of the earth. The vision I have for my future is bigger than I could’ve imagined. In fact, I received this vision from the Lord in 2015. My life has been one unexpected adventure since the day I trusted in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” Isaiah 6:8
My passions include:
The Great Commission
The Great Commission, because we were created by God and for God. I firmly believe that there is nothing more powerful than the precious blood of Jesus and I am compelled to share this glorious Gospel to ALL creation!
Local and Global Missions
I went on my first mission trip in 2012 and through serving and traveling I have gained a greater perspective in how I can impact this world through Jesus Christ. Since then I have traveled to Brazil, Belize, St. John, Scotland, and Israel on mission. I have learned so much along the way and I desire to be on mission wherever I go. Locally I spend my time as a Global Ambassador sharing the Gospel on college campuses, parks, and apartment complexes.
Volunteering with local Christ-centered organizations
Being apart of the local church has led to many opportunities to serve my community through Vacation Bible Schools and local missions. I have interned, volunteered, and worked for popular camps all across Texas. As a camp counselor I have thoroughly enjoyed being around junior high children and I love seeing how the Lord is working in their lives! Now that I am older I have volunteered with organizations such as Elijah Rising, an organization that seeks to end human-trafficking in Houston, TX. As well as The Source for Women where I enjoy serving the population of women at risk for abortion and unintended pregnancies. (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Nursing
It is a privilege to be a light in the midst of peoples darkest most vulnerable moments. Sadness, depression, loneliness, fear of death, hopelessness represents some of the emotions that people face while experiencing failing health. As a nurse it is my goal to provide compassionate care and present the hope with me with gentleness and respect. (1 Peter 3:15) I believe that the joy of the Lord cannot be hidden and through acts of service and times of prayer countless people will come to know Jesus Christ as Lord!
“Jesus [The Great Physician] answered them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.” Luke 5:31-32
